5/3/06 - Pease Golf Course Hosts Spring Scramble this Sunday
Prizes Awarded to Winning Team

Portsmouth, NH - Pease Golf Course’s Spring Scramble will feature 80 golfers divided into teams of five to compete Sunday, May 7 at 8:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided to the players before the round.

"We award prizes to the winning teams and hold contest holes and a long drive contest for both men and women," states Scott Devito, Manager of Pease Golf Course. "After the round, there are appetizers provided for the players while we conduct the awards presentation."

The tournament consists of five player teams [is this correct?] competing in a scramble format. Each player consecutively takes a shot, then the entire team plays from the best position until the ball is holed out for a single team score. [Please clarify; "holed out for a single team score"]. Last year’s winners, Ben Ross, Paul Stone, Sam Robinson, Sonny Boyd and Kim Griffin shot a score of 59, or 13 under par. Players will be utilizing the same 18 holes again this season. Please contact Scott Devito at (603) 433-1331 for more information.

Course Improvements/Additions Final paving of cart paths on 5 of the original 18 holes is complete, as is a redesign of the 12th hole. The new bunker extends from 200 yards to 270 yards off the tee. This area will be ready by the end of June.

The blue course will feature a new teeing area on the finishing 9th hole and will be open for business this August. There have been a number of trees planted on both the 1st and 2nd holes of the blue course to provide players with better visual perspective. New yardage has also been added on the markers of all three nine-holes, resulting in improved judgment from the distance to the green.
